Today was the best day of the trip so far. We went from Flagstaff this morning to the southern part of the Grand Canyon. In the video above, Shane says it is February 12, but it was actually the 13th. Neither Shane nor I had ever been to there, and I have to admit, it is aptly named. It is big. Luckily, we had a beautiful sunny day. The video above was inspired by the Barbra Streisand/Seth Rogen movie, The Guilt Trip, where they also visited the Grand Canyon. Below are some photos at the Canyon and driving south to Sedona.

My standard fake fall photo. It actually looks more like a Hallelujah! |

On 89A between Flagstaff and Sedona. |
The trip down to Sedona from the Grand Canyon was beautiful. We took a windy non-highway road (89A) that had amazing views of red rocks and mountains. Once we arrived to our hotel in Sedona (Poco Diablo), we checked in and went directly to the tennis court. The weather was in the high 60s and there is no humidity. It was perfect for tennis and Shane and I had a great match (we played one set and I barely won in a tie-breaker. The views even from the tennis court are so great!

We set up these posed tennis shots to show off the view from the courts. |
This evening, we met up with our Deer Isle neighbor, Martha Spector. We got together for dinner at a great Italian restaurant north of Sedona. She has been staying in San Francisco of late, and flew into Arizona for a wedding. It was so fun that we got to meet up on our trip. She promised more Mahjong and Bridge in our futures.
We are staying for two nights in Sedona and then heading to LA for two nights. After that, the plan is to head back east with a stay in the Palm Springs area for multiple nights and then a southern route back toward Maine. We had originally planned to hit Las Vegas and San Diego, but we were just in San Diego last year and want to devote an entire trip to Vegas in the future. Below is the map of today's travels. We started in Flagstaff and went north to the Grand Canyon and then went back to Flagstaff en route to Sedona.
